Browser extension: txt, md, csv, json, xml, html, log, docx, xlsx, and text-based PDF files.

Desktop app (v1.8+): additionally JPG, PNG, screenshots, and scanned / image-only PDFs. Built-in OCR detects sensitive content directly inside images and replaces it either with structured placeholders (context preserved for the AI) or with black redaction bars (maximum privacy). Processing is fully local — images never leave the device.

Availability and Pricing

MOM Shield is currently available free of charge. Optional paid features may be introduced in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data sent to MOM Shield?

No. In the current version, MOM Shield processes content locally in your browser. There is no provider-operated masking server.

Why was a PDF blocked in the browser extension?

In the browser extension, PDF files are converted to text and then masked. If a PDF has no usable text layer, is encrypted, or cannot be safely extracted, the extension blocks it instead of passing through the original file unchanged. For scanned or image-only PDFs, use the desktop app instead — it can OCR them locally and mask the recognized content.

Does MOM Shield support OCR for scanned PDFs and images?

Yes — in the desktop app since v1.8. Scanned PDFs, screenshots, and image files (JPG, PNG) are processed locally by built-in OCR. Detected sensitive content is replaced either with structured placeholders (context preserved for the AI) or fully covered with black redaction bars. The browser extension does not include OCR yet — there, PDFs without a text layer remain blocked.

Why was a value not masked?

MOM Shield uses local detection rules and context validation. Depending on wording and formatting, false negatives or false positives are possible.

Why can I not unmask a response?

Unmasking requires active local history. If History is off or strict privacy mode is enabled, automatic response unmasking is disabled.
